Wednesday May 1st: Comedy at The Albion Presents Matt Rees

In Old Penarth there is a secret oasis of laughter and enlightened thinking. That place is The Albion – a haven for liberal intellectuals, music fans and bar flies. And in his hallowed hostelry there is a comedy club. On the first Wednesday of the month (usually) the initiates gather to drink deep of the draught of Mirth. Put simply. There’s this great comedy night at the Albion in Penarth and it’s back on May 1st with an amazing line up of very VERY funny talent.

MATT REES has generated a huge buzz on the circuit over the past year with his unique brand of well-crafted gags and acerbic delivery earning him high praise from audiences and critics alike.

This rising star has won a whole host of awards including Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2012, Welsh Unsigned Stand-Up Award 2011, Loaded Laftas New Act Award 2011 and the Leicester Square Theatre New Act of the Year Award 2011 as well as being nominated for Chortle Best Newcomer 2012. Having recently supported the sublime Elis James on tour, Matt can be seen performing as part of the prestigious Pleasance Reserve at the Edinburgh Fringe 2012.

JOSH ELTON adds his support. to this fine bill. Josh is also a winner of the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up of the Year Award, and blends observations, satire and music into an immensely funny performance dripping with confidence and self deprecation in equal measure.

Following his success in Cardiff’s Glee Club, Josh has played numerous festivals including Edinburgh, Neath Comedy Festival, The Settlement at Greenman and Radnor Fringe.

Matt and Josh are joined by Ogmore’s SIMON BRACEY, time travelling cyberpunk comedian ALI HANCOCK, and Margam motormouth SANDRO FORD.
